Flat Iron

The Flat Iron building, Prescot. It was built in the latter part of the 19th century as a warehouse for the Lancashire Watch Company. The clock and time ball were installed in 2020. The clock seems to have stopped. Whether the time ball still does its thing - the ball is meant to rise at 1pm each day - I have no idea. The building is currently vacant, and needs to find an occupier that will enjoy its quirky design.

Recent research suggests that the Flat Iron may sit on the site of the original Playhouse.

I would usually be annoyed by an image that placed the subject behind a lamp post, but I started off by photographing the adder entwined around it (more clearly seen in the extra). The adder features in the witches curse from Macbeth, one of 14 creatures going into their rather meaty broth to be found around the town centre.
