Following The River

Rather than just walking round town for our Sunday stroll this morning, we decided to go a bit further afield, and went down to the quaintly named Sandy Bottoms, where the River Mint joins the River Kent. The Mint comes in from the right of the picture and the Kent from the top. It all looks very peaceful and rural, though the reality is that you are actually surrounded by industrial estates! It was also disappointing to see footpaths closed and land fenced off as part of the continuing flood defence work. My simplistic mind wonders what they’re actually planning, as I always thought Sandy Bottoms was a natural flood plain anyway!
Anyway, it was still a pleasant walk and we went for a well deserved coffee and cake afterwards. This afternoon was spent in the far more mundane pursuit of catching up on the ironing whilst listening to Sounds of the 70s on Radio 2.
This evening will be mainly spent trying to avoid learning the result of the Grand Prix until I can watch the highlights later!
