A walk and a play

I don’t drink much these days, so having split a bottle of red with LadyV last night, I was a little fuzzy headed this morning, but still did the decent thing and made us our first brew of the day.

Bacon and egg butties followed as we sat at the breakfast bar and watched the birds as they tentatively approached the feeders in the yarden. We agreed that there were more than two jackdaws in Kendal, that jackdaws were d*cks and that sparrows and robins were actually quite cute.

Not long after, her ladyship departed to get a couple of hours work in before she set off on an afternoon/evening knees-up, leaving me to head into town for some lunch and snack supplies.

Suitably fuelled, I was then off to meet Simmo for a walk up, over and around School Knott. The view you see here is looking down over Windermere village, onto Windermere itself and the Langdale Pikes beyond. This photo does not do it justice.

The afternoon was back in Kendal for a quick catch up with the parents (they’re heading back South tomorrow) and then setting off down to Lancaster to watch ayearinthelife appearing as Lord Melchett in Blackadder II, where the Footlights were performing three of the episodes at The Grand.

It was good fun and there were some great performances from the cast, not least the ever-brilliant ayearinthelife, but also from Blackadder and The Baby Eating Bishop. So nice to be sat in the circle of a traditional theatre like The Grand!

It was a tired dunkyc that post-show made his way to LadyV’s house to await her return from a boozy afternoon/evening, but I am delighted to say that she was worth the wait and had clearly had a good time.

Lord knows she deserved it.
