Views of my world

Journal

I wish I'd called yesterday's entry "inspiration" which would have allowed me to call today's "inspired", instead I need to go with the accurate but less descriptive title instead.

One thing I really enjoy seeing are other artists sketchbooks, the ones Sarah Sumsion shared with us yesterday, the pages Frieda shares each week on blip, Ange's gorgeous preparations for her college work all leave me with sketchbook envy.

However I'm realistic enough to accept that whilst I have a full time job my time will simply not allow such absorption into creative pursuits out with holiday periods. My craft journal is testament to that, last written in at the February weekend, ignored at Easter but filled tonight as an excuse to feel scraps of yarn, fibre and fabric and reflect on everything I've made in the last few months. I spent a lovely couple of hours at the table in the window as the sun went down sifting through my photos, sticking in samples and writing about the varying states of my crafty mojo.

I feel like my crafty weekend has cleared my mind, I have a HUGE week at work with my two big presentations coming up and a casual visit from one of the directors in the council (no pressure!) I'm in work on Friday to attend one of the collaborative events so missing a day of my long weekend, but it's all fine. Tomorrow night I'll knit, on Thursday I'll go to pottery and by Saturday I'll have three days off.

Noah got his S1 report today, and it was excellent! I'm so pleased his dyslexia doesn't seem to be holding him back at all especially as his English teacher commended him for writing with flair and humour! His parents night is on Wednesday so it will be good to check in with his teachers, so proud of my baby boy (the teenager!) He leaves for Barcelona at 5.30am on Sunday then Freya leaves for France & Belgium on Monday. It's a big week, but crafts will keep me sane.
