Mersey Gateway Bridge

This is the Mersey Gateway Bridge that was opened in 2017 from Halton Castle, or rather the remains of Halton Castle.  It dates back to 1017 and the remains of the castle are now listed, with the old courthouse being converted into a pub, predictably called The Castle. 
The view from the top was quite good, but I imagine in better weather you would be able to see a lot farther. We will go back when the weather is better and actually go into the pub to take a look at the old castle remains. 
We managed a short walk in between the showers after we'd dropped off the purchases from the other day at the Butterfly House.
