Strathspey Queens ... and other music

We headed over to Birnam this afternoon for the final concert of the annual Niel Gow Festival, held close to Inver where Niel Gow grew up, lived, played and composed.

The music was wonderful - starting with the Gordon Duncan Experience, a program which bring young traditional musicians together and gives them opportunities to play and perform together. Gordon Duncan was renowned bagpipe player who lived in Pitlochry.

This was followed by Hannah Fisher (fiddle) and Ciorstaidh Beaton (harp) and then after the interval Patsy Reid (fiddle) and Alice Allen (cello): all were excellent.  There is something rather mesmerising watching musicians close up.

We also bumped into A&M whom we hadn't seen since Christmas - it was lovely to catch up with them.

A grand afternoon.
