Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

We had a visitor today, and she arrived at 8am like a whirlwind. A very noisy whirlwind. She’s got a huge, loud, deep bark. JR took her out round the block with Archie. Well, she tried to. Two minutes later, she was back in the door - she did NOT want to go for a walk. However, she did go for a run around the back garden instead, and did her business.

Later, I tried to take both dogs out round the block. We got across the road, then Marsha stopped,  and flatly refused to move any further. Except back the way we’d come. She RAN back over the road, RAN past our gate, and RAN in the door, like she was being chased. She was NOT going out for walkies. JR tried again in the afternoon. NO GO.

But yet she goes off with the doggie day care folk and runs around Blackford Hill.

She took quite a fancy to Archie’s bed, and spent quite a bit of time in it. Then she got her bone out, and whenever she left it and wandered off a bit, Archie went in to have a wee sniff, but she’d be back in like a shot to stop him. Dead funny. He knows to keep well away - she’s not very gentle when she takes a treat from your fingers - she snaps at your whole hand like a crocodile.

Archie and I went out for our walk, on our own when JR came home and I continued listening to my book on my now safe EarPods. And I also listened to a RadioNZ interview with Kim Hill and Sam Neill. He’s such a nice chap. I think I’ll order his book when it comes out next week. He was speaking about what fun he had while filming ‘The Twelve’, about a jury trial. And so we started watching it in the afternoon. It’s good, it’s about the jury, though the subject matter of the trial is pretty graphic (teenage girls at their worst).
