I planted more of my new plants

I love my garden. I planted more of my hellebores and Irish moss. I see hyacinths beginning. My crocuses are still going strong. My daffodils are everywhere. 

There was an article today on ways the Russia-Ukraine War has changed the world. 
- reinvigorated NATO which was in a bad state before the 2022 invasion. Not only is it reinvigorated, it is going to grow bigger. Hungary is going to support Finland joining NATO. Sweden will have to overcome objections from Turkey, but they've applied too. Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia may be next.
- eliminated the peace dividend. We've been spending less on military purposes and the money has gone to anything else we prioritized (we may not agree with those priorities). 
- wars will be fought differently. Ukraine took tactics that fundamentally altered military doctrine, sinking warships with small bands of hit-and-run troops and what they've done with commercially available drones is astounding. They improvised intelligence with IT. 
- increased (restored?) American influence
- boosted US industry
- moved Russia and China closer. I have no idea what will be the result of this but you really don't want to be in China's thrall. That won't be good for Russia. 
- shifted energy. Russia's fossil fuel market is toast. By the time people are willing to buy from Russia again, we won't be using fossil fuels. The US is the world's largest exporter of liquefied natural gas. Russia is dependent on China. The push for hydrogen is not only a push to stop climate change but to increase national energy security. 
- Russia is severed financially from the world with $300 billion in foreign reserves frozen and no access to the messaging system that underpins international transactions. 
- inflation.

Russian officials have been told to stop using iphones for security reasons. You know what a headache it is to learn a new operating system? This is probably worse than losing McDonalds.
