A Meandering Life...

By Skeena

Another Sound...

...another mail boat. This time out of Picton without the benefit of a Blipmeet.

The mail boat runs in the afternoon for about 4 hours during which time we explored most of Queen Charlotte Sounds northern bays delivering post to the outlying communities and posh retreats. We managed to venture as far as Ship Cove were Capt Cook made regular stops during his visits (see extras).

Many of the stops we made seemed to be met by house-sitters or staff unlike the Pelorus Sound stops. We also picked up a number of day walkers who had been dropped off earlier in the day.

We did see a bit more wildlife including King Shags, seals (trying to get into the salmon farm), Blue Cod (some with green backs that indicate they are changing from female to male) and best of all Hector Dolphins!

My extra shows a screenshot from a video I took of the Hectors darting about our boat. I have also included a Sting Ray, one of many that patrol Picton Marina.

Tomorrow is the midway stage of our trip and if all goes to plan we will change islands. I hope you have enjoyed the trip so far. ;o)
