Rathad Chalium

There was a party of six in the restaurant last night and they come through to snug we’d ensconced ourselves in after their meal. They were very friendly and included us in their conversations and shared their wine as well. It also transpired that we had acquaintances in common.  One of the group was on of the people behind establishing the distillery and it was really interesting chatting to him. A nice end to our first day.

This morning we enjoyed a full and leisurely breakfast with views of the Cuillins. We then made our way to the north of the island and Calum’s Road, which we drove along for bit.  We then parked and did a circular walk to Kyle Fladda and back via Torran. Unfortunately the tide was coming in so we couldn’t walk to Fladda but it was great wee walk with ancient woodlands, paths above the shoreline and across the moors.

On the way back we stopped at Brochel Castle - it was hard to tell where rock ended and castle started.

Back at the hotel I read and then went for a walk around the harbour while T sketched and rested.

I hoping the Wi-Fi allows me to join my Gaelic Class which will be followed by dinner.

A good day (which is also our 27th wedding anniversary which is hard to believe !)
