Boys Will Be Boys

Another amazing day of big game viewing, this time at Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve outside of the town of Richard’s Bay in KwaZulu Natal.

Even though we did not arrive there until late morning, and really didn’t expect to see much at that time of day, we were very fortunate.  Here are some of the stars of today’s show (almost all of them male):  A dazzling dazzle of zebras, the most beautiful Malachite Kingfisher, a bright red and quite small dragonfly, an extremely muddy Cape Buffalo with a rather cheeky Red-Billed Oxpecker standing in as a fascinator, and a young bull elephant having a lovely time splashing around in the river.

We will return there early tomorrow morning (a 5:00 a.m. departure from the ship!) for another chance to spot South Africa's incredible Big Five -- our last opportunity before departing for Mozambique.

Extra:  These Cape Buffalo were all wallowing in a mud hole, along with about 80,000,000 flies.  No wonder these big creatures have a reputation for being bad tempered!
