One Brown Mouse

Last year, for Mrs C’s birthday, I bought her a small bronze owl. When we went to Penrith last week, we visited the same shop and she chose this small bronze mouse for this year’s birthday. As you can see from the pound coin he is sitting on, it shouldn’t be too difficult to find somewhere to display him, even in our overcrowded house!
It’s not been much of a birthday for Mrs C. She’s suffering from a bad cold and has no energy. We did manage a very nice birthday brunch though, at the new Cortillo Lounge in Kendal. It used to be Burtons the Tailors, but has been totally transformed into a restaurant / bar - breakfast and lunches during the day, tapas and cocktails in the evening. Though I don’t think there’s anything to stop you having tapas and cocktails for breakfast, if that’s what you fancy.
We called at the recycling centre on the way home to get rid of the old iron. Unfortunately, just as we arrived, they shut the gates whilst they moved some of the skips around. And because we had a queue of cars behind us, we were trapped and had to wait until they reopened before I could dispose of said iron and get out. That’s an hour of our lives we’ll never get back!
Mrs C has been resting this afternoon but I’m hoping she’ll feel up to eating the tea I’m making for her. Then it probably needs to be an early night as we’re supposed to be going on a stately home visit tomorrow. Hopefully she’ll be feeling a bit stronger and I won’t have succumbed to whatever she’s suffering from. No symptoms yet, touch wood…
