Saturday Night

Not only is it Saturday night, it is also Mrs C’s birthday - her first not under lockdown conditions for two years!
Having said that, we didn’t particularly feel like going out to eat but decided to try something we’ve had our eye on for a while. On the same industrial estate as our gym there is a strange little stand outside one of the units. The only clue to what it’s for is the sign above the unit saying “Thai Kitchen”.
We’ve heard really good reports about the food, so Mrs C decided that’s what she’d like for her birthday tea. A very simple process - consult the menu online and then phone through your order. Chicken and Cashew Nuts for me and a Red Thai Curry with Duck for Mrs C. You’re given a time slot for collection and they take your car registration number. Arriving at the allotted time, you park up opposite the little stand, alongside other customers. When your meal is ready, a man brings it out and points at your car. You hurry across to the stand, slap your card on the machine and then collect your meal. I’m guessing the process was developed in more infectious times to keep people safe but, as the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Certainly beats crowding into a small takeaway with loads of other people.
And I’m pleased to report that it was absolutely delicious. One of us did manage to spill some down themselves, but as it’s her birthday, I won’t say who.
