Forest and Snow and Blue Sky!

The sweep arrived on time today and checked out our 3 stoves and the boiler in the cellar, plus the fire alarms, plus the chimney. There were a few minor adjustments we need to make, and he suggested a fire alarm in the cellar which seems a sensible investment since there's a stove, a fridge, a freezer and a washing machine down there, any of which could start to burn if bad luck strikes!

Later in the day we walked up Owl Crag. I've blipped the view from up there before so today's main picture is from the forest at the start of that walk. I used the wide-angle camera on the iPhone, which means the tops of the pines and the snow covered ground are both in one picture. The angle the trees make is an interesting side-effect.
I've posted a couple of extras, taken at the top of the crag. One of them is looking down to the (frozen and snow-covered) lake at the foot of the crag. The other is looking across the forest and the sound to Härnösand. The middle of the sound is now open water but on the nearest edge is ice and ice+snow.
I'm presently reading "The Village Baker" by Joe Ortiz, published in 1993. It's a book about baking bread, and about the traditional breads and bakeries of France. I was given a reference to a recipe and the only place I could find it was on the Internet Archive. I knew about this site from years ago but since then it has expanded. As it says about itself...
Internet Archive is a non-profit library of millions of free books, movies, software, music, websites, and more.
It also archives 806 billion web pages - now there's a big number!
So if you are looking for an old book, or want to listen to some music, or just want to browse, take a look at https://archive.org/ . It helps if you are slightly geekish (I am) but it isn't necessary!
