Avebury

Such a lovely day and not one to waste. I took Morrigan out for a delightful extended ride across Wiltshire, stopping off at Avebury for a walk amongst the stones.

I always try to keep extraneous people out of my photo's but in truth it's hard to convey the dimensions both of the stones and of the site itself without them. I've uploaded two shots therefore which have people in for scale. Thousand of years old - older than Stonehenge and the Pyramids - and so large the village is actually inside it, you can't see it all at once.

I was initiated into the Druid "Gorsedd of Bards of Caer Abiri" around quarter of a century ago now, and it's always lovely to get back to the stones and the earthworks and the trees that line them both.
