Sgwarnog: In the Field

Woodland

I didn’t spot any Easter bunnies or ducklings, so you’ll have to make do with a squirrel.

It was a mainly overcast and cool day, but there was a bit of sun in early afternoon; enough to draw out a few Peacock and Comma butterflies down at the woods. I saw my first bee flies of the year and there were a lot more hoverflies and bumblebees about.

Long-tailed Tits were gathering nesting materials, Chiff-chaffs were calling and a Buzzard swooped over the tree tops. The first bluebells are showing and the lush green garlic leaves have sprouted up but it is still Wood Anemone and Lesser Celandine dominating the woodland floor. A group of five Roe Deer slid through the trees.

Happy Easter!
