Sgwarnog: In the Field

Easter Monday saw 15yo, 18yo and myself heading over to Lancashire to visit Sister #2 and family, and to take in Nephew #3’s football game.

Bank Holiday travel is always a bit of a lottery, and unfortunately we did not have a winning ticket.  Having made it into Bradford we found our intended train through the Pennines had been cancelled and we had to wait an hour for the next one. But the coffee shop at the Interchange is made for such occasions.

Luckily we had allowed plenty of time so we were still able to fit in lunch at my sister’s first, and most importantly a visit from the latest addition to the extended family, Great Nephew #3.

Then we decamped to Victory Park to watch his Dad line up for Chorley in a National League North fixture against Scarborough Athletic. It was lively game, but despite having the lead twice, Chorley ended up losing 2-3. Not the result we were hoping for.

From our seat in the main stand I was tickled when the Chorley Mascot (Victor Magpie) sat down in full costume in the small, elevated Ashby Street stand opposite. See extras for the stand in context.

Thankfully our journey home was a lot smoother, indeed it took half the time.

See a final extra for a family selfie along with Sister #2.
