The Small Beauties

Great weather. Sunny, temperature around +12, weak wind.

A couple of hours in the garden in the allotment area around noon. The place is 2 km from us, I have blipped it often last summer, see e.g. May 7th, 22.

Today we applied lime to the lawn to improve the conditions of the growing place and fertilized roses and clematises with horse poo.

When leaving back home we stopped by our friends, who lives quite near us but now also has a cottage plot in the same allotment, because we heard of the selling of it of the person we knew and told it to the friends quickly enough. These plots especially here in the Capital region have been highly sought after for decades already, and their prices have has risen to unrealistic proportions. Anyway, it's so lovely to have these friends near our plot and to see each other even if just passing by.

The common hepatica (Hepatica nobilis) in the picture grows in a few spots in our garden. It's the plant of the shadow and often hiding. I didn't noticed yesterday if it was flowering already. It's one of the wild flowers in Southern Finland. The common hepatica is one of the the first plants to bloom in spring in Finland, and the progress of its flowering is monitored in Finland. It flowers before the leaves burst, but  flowers only a very short time. The species was removed from the protected species list in 2005. In the past, the common hepatica has been collected a lot, as a result of which the species decreased. Today, the flower is abundant again, but it is still not recommended gathering excessively. I blipped the flower also last year, May 1st, 22.

Thank you Miranda1008 for hosting WFW23.
