Social time

This is a late posting.

It was my son-in-law’s birthday today, so we met them for coffee before they went for a long lunch with friends.  Our next stop was to meet two of our friends for lunch.  We had a lovely time with them, but it was sad to say goodbye.  The next time we see them will hopefully be in Oamaru.  After lunch we had time to kill before my osteopath appointment but rain was threatening so I wasn’t keen to walk because I didn’t want to get wet. After the osteopath appointment we had more time to kill, so we did manage a short walk along Kohimarama Beach before picking up a friend and taking her to the farewell gathering.  It was such a lovely evening.  Everyone brought along either a savoury or sweet dish, so there was an excellent choice of food.  We’ll see most of them next Tuesday morning when we do our last walk with them.  It was another happy but sad occasion.  The hostess’s husband is retiring, so they are moving back to Australia next week.

I managed to get a photo of one of the large ficus-type trees at St Heliers and a view of Rangitoto with a misty rain covering it.  Later I took two photos of the sunset from Kohimarama Beach.  The last photo is a group photo taken just before everyone left after a lovely, sociable evening.
