FLOWER FRIDAY

It was a good job that Mr. HCB decided not to go to Bristol today because it has rained on and off for most of the morning - he is now finishing off his picnic lunch from yesterday watching a women’s cricket match on the television from Kowloon, but he says he won’t be watching much more as it’s not that good!  

I decided that I would use the last rose from my beautiful bouquet, received on 24th March, for Flower Friday - so here it is.  I took out the background using my PhotoRoom app and then put a frame round it using the Carbon app.  Job done.

BUSHEL
An imperial and US unit of dry measure for grain, fruit, etc., equal to 32 dry quarts or 4 pecks - the US one is slightly smaller.

The old bushel is equal to 2 kennings (obsolete), 4 pecks, or 8 dry gallons, and was used mostly for agricultural products, such as wheat.

Here is a story that might make you smile - many years ago we knew a Mr. & Mrs. Peck and they named their bungalow  “Half Bushel” - one bushel being 4 pecks and therefore 2 pecks being half a bushel - they were just a couple with no children - clever eh?
