Cork Oak Tree

Not often seen on the UK. This impressive tree was planted in the churchyard of Gosforth church in 1833 and claims to be the most northerly cork oak in Britain and possibly the oldest. The bark is amazing (extra) . Mr P dragged me up 3 Wainwright Outlying Fells nearby, I'll sleep well tonight. View from Irton Pike up Wasdale in extras
