In The City

This was supposed to be a really long shot looking up the length of Watergate Street and Eastgate Street in Chester, towards the iconic clock, but using the zoom lens just foreshortened everything and made it look like the clock is next to The Cross! Still makes for an interesting photo though.
The weather was considerably better than yesterday, so we decided to walk from our flat by the racecourse out to Hoole to meet some friends for a coffee. A very pleasant stroll, mostly along the canal, and it was good to catch up with our friends. We took a slightly different route back to the flat so we could have a look in the shops.
All in all, we walked 5 miles and quite pleased with that much exercise as we’ve not done a lot this week due to the weather. Definitely felt we’d earned our Chinese this evening, and very nice it was too. One more night in the flat before we head home, but I suspect we’ll be back before too long. As we get nearer to completion we need to get it emptied and there is at least one more car load of stuff to go before we need to get a van.
It’s starting to look a bit bare in the flat now, and what we pack tomorrow will just add to that. The flat has gone from a cosy second home to a minimalist shell with just the bare essentials to enable us to stay here. I suspect all future visits until completion day will be for one night only, so quite glad we’ve had this last little break here, even though the weather hasn’t been particularly good.
