The road home

The lambs next door were dozing in the grass when I took J out to see them after lunch, so we walked along the road out of the village to a much larger field with many more sheep and lambs. Some of them were awake, but most were a long way from the fence, so we did not have a good view of their antics. However, it was a beautiful, sunny afternoon despite the chilly wind, there were fascinating, intricate leaf buds opening on the trees beside the path, and as we returned home we found the lambs in the first field had woken from their naps and were gathered round the water trough beside the gate; we watched them drink, run and bounce for a while.

For Wide Wednesday, this is the road leading back home as it approaches the edge of the village, colourful with green grass, blue sky and dandelions and the warm brown of rooves and hedges in the sun.
