Waiting for the Opua vehicle ferry

After three days of relaxed interactions with many of those with whom I shared time at Otago University, having nothing to do except travel home, was unappealing.

Fortunately S had arranged that we would visit old friends, one of whom is a classmate. he and his wife have land and housing only minutes from the car ferry terminal. some years back Lannes and I had more contact; retirement (his) and distance impacted negatively. Time to make more of an effort (mine).

Anticipating a delay, I found that there are two ferries which cross over mid channel and the wait is minimal. A long trip back by way of Waipu as SH1 over the Brynderwyns is closed to traffi until the damage wrought by the two recent storms has been safely repaired.

As SH1 passes (many km south of the blocked road) through Warkworth, we made a diversion to Snells Beach ro see how the beach house looks ready for being seen by prospective buyers. Very good actually, but not our style at all; which helps with detaching from it.
