It's dry inside

The day has not been unrelentingly wet; but not far off so being. There has been more rain this year than I recall ever before. The forecast for tomorrow is more of the same.

On the way home this evening after visiting daughter C we listened to an item on National Radio about the underfunding of Otago University. Made me think again that the New Zealand I grew up in was a time when it was possible for every young person to afford to go to university, and if they waited until the age of 21, they did not need to have passed university entrance examinations. Passing the first year entitled such a student to the same government support thereafter as those of us going straight from school.

Perhaps the rain gods are egalitarians who are weeping for the loss of such a country.
