Coffee

Nothing unusual about a morning coffee, but the setting for this was quite funky.

With my colleague, I had a meeting at Paris-Saclay university, which meant not only a very early start (3.30am wake up; 6.00am flight), but also a trip towards the southern fringes of Paris proper, to the environs of Fontenay-en-Roses and Sceaux. This felt almost like a trip to a small French town. We got off the RER one stop early, and the station building was a traditional old fashioned French country town station building. Stepping out of the station, there was a cafe de la Gare, so we sat and had a reviving coffee before walking along a "green corridor" to the university campus.

After the meeting, we reversed the direction, with a train to Gare du Nord, dropping our bags off at the hotel, before taking a bus on a tourist trip through the centre of Paris. The Number 38 bus runs north to south and went past such notable sights as Notre Dame and the Sorbonne University before dropping us at a restaurant by the Jardin de Luxembourg to meet the rest of the party for a dinner. A taxi back to the hotel after dinner completed the day's explorations of different means of transport.

There are a few other pictures on the camera, but to be honest this sums up the day as well as anything. In order to try and stay awake, I definitely overdosed on caffeine!
