Houston - Day One

Our flight was an hour and a half late leaving Auckland, but it picked up half an hour on the way.  We decided to catch bus 102 from the airport to Downtown, which meant changing to Terminal C.  We could have caught a driverless train, but decided to walk between terminals instead.  Let’s just say the bus went all around the houses at speed and we thought we’d never get to Downtown.  However, eventually we got to the stop we wanted and it was a short walk to our hotel.

We checked in and went to our room, then went out for a walk.  We decided to have a glass of wine and something light at a restaurant and bar called Cellar 7.  Hmmm, might have to have a rethink on something light and share one plate rather than two.  It was rather delicious, though - charred Brussels sprouts with balsamic dressing and slivered almonds and calamari with pomegranate seeds and a dipping sauce.  We even got a little tutorial on tipping, which is something we don’t do in New Zealand.

Having walked a few blocks around the Downtown area we’re pleasantly surprised.  We’ve even spotted a place to return to in the next couple of days.  I managed to take a few photos as we walked. Now it’s time for blipping and then bed.

The main blip and extras are photos taken at the airport and as we walked around the Downtown area.
