Helping out

After breakfast, tidying up, a chat with a friend, getting a load of washing on the line and setting the dishwasher going, we walked down to town to help sort books for the Rotary Bookarama, which is the annual fundraiser to support Rotary projects in the community.  All the books have to be sorted into categories and priced.  That takes two weeks (there are a lot of books!) and the book fair is open to the public from the 10th to the 19th of May.  We helped out for three hours and will put in more time as and when we can.  We had lunch in town then walked home, by which time I was feeling rather tired.  There was also a cold southwesterly wind blowing so staying indoors was favoured over getting into the garden.

I washed and cooked some rhubarb and MrM sorted the last tomatoes of the season, which I washed and put on a towel to dry.  After some quick research to find recipes for green tomatoes I came up with a Green Tomato Cake and a Roasted Green Tomato Sauce for pasta.  If there are enough green tomatoes we’ll make both.
