Behind

Not Chris's!

No, we're very behind with getting the polycrub (our very 'weather-proof' greenhouse) prepped for this season. the whole project is behind the original schedule for being finished (last October!) so we now have to get the big raised beds filled pronto if we are to have any hope of growing our own this season.

We're very lucky that our plea for topsoil has been generously answered (although I'm anxious about the bits of couch grass I've discovered in it and hoping I've got it out). There's nothing sensible available commercially at the moment unless you want to pay for stones.  And it would be costing us an arm and a leg and more filling it up with bags like those lying there as evidence.

And we're also very lucky that there is free compost available from the council which is a bit rough and ready but can easily be sifted through.

Chris did some clever calculations from all his measuring up. I'm going to whisper that I think we need more than he said,  but that's just me eyeballing it as always ...

In other news.  Berry saw the vet about her limp today. The good news is that she's probably just pulled a ligament bouncing too much and the knee repair hasn't been compromised. The bad news: very restricted exercise for the next week - and the vet bill :-0 !
