Brimming With Bugs

A female brimstone butterfly was acting very submissively in the front garden. She didn't fly when I got close to photograph her. I guessed a male was in the vicinity. One soon turned up and they started courting in the blackthorn hedge. She is the lighter coloured of the two. It is the first time that I have captured a brimstone courtship flight/dance. (Extras)

This morning I got a shot of a sleeping nomad cuckoo bee. It is clinging on to a dog's mercury by its mandibles. Doesn't look very comfortable to me. (Extras)

I also got my first red damselfly of 2023. :) (Extras)
