An ordinary life....

Horses for courses…

We had our traditional first day of holiday. No alarms set, lazy morning, cooked brunch.

No sunshine but much warmer than yesterday.

This afternoon we carried on our first day of holiday tradition and went for a drive to get our bearings of the local area. Went to Coldstream first. Investigated the golf course. It looks lovely but D is concerned it’s too slopy.

Off to Kelso next. I thought we might visit the Abbey sometime this week but it was closed off and now I’m thinking all the Abbeys in the area are still closed like they were when we visited the Borders last year with our friend P. I was hoping they would have reopened by now!

D checked out Kelso golf course too but from what he could see, is concerned it’s too flat. He’s turning into a golfing Goldilocks!

Continued our drive through the countryside then headed back to the cottage when the rain came on.

Weather cleared up once we were back and turned into a lovely evening.

I went for a wander along the driveway to see the horses and this lovely boy came over to say hello :-)

There’s a whole mixture of horses including a Clydesdale and a Shetland Pony in the field beside the cottage. We found out today that they are therapy horses and are part of a therapy / trauma centre that provides help to people who suffer from PTSD / anxiety / depression using interaction with horses as a key part of the treatment. They’re certainly very friendly.

It is so lovely here. Birds are nesting in the tall trees behind the cottage and it’s fascinating to watch them come and go, and listen to the racket they make. They are very loud.

Lola is being an absolute star. The garden is large but isn’t enclosed but she’s happily going out to do her business and coming straight back in again. Supervised of course :-) Put a pic of her in extras as she patiently waited in the back of the car while we got organised to go out this afternoon. Even offered me a paw as I passed :-))
