Family portrait

It has taken much effort this weekend to round everybody up for a whole family shot, so I'm pleased (and relieved) that we finally managed to do so just after lunch today. Pictured here are:

Behind the sofa: Al and Scamp, Julian and Star, Alan, Richard, Clive, and Paddy (the other one)
On the sofa: Gill, Sarah, Florence, Cindy, and Sam
On the floor: Beth, hazelh, Freddie (pointing at P, due at the end of July), and Mr hazelh

Today was also the day that we introduced Freddie to Catan. He enjoyed playing along with a partner, picking up most of the rules as he took his turn, but at six he is still too young to play independently. Julian introduced us to another game called 'Beat that'. This required the completion of a mix of physical and mental tasks. I did best on the latter, especially one that required memorising items in a list. I was proud to even beat Beth, whose profession as an actress requires her to learn huge chunks of text.

Some of our party popped out to visit an abbey this afternoon, but Mr hazelh and I stayed in again. Given the long journey to reach this destination, I just want to relax and enjoy the house. Poor Mr hazelh is still recovering from his cough and doesn't have the energy to gad about.

Exercise today: none.
