60 fabulous years.

As I said yesterday I was down in Wales to mark 60 years of the Nantmor Mountain Centre.  It is such a relief that the centre managed to weather the storm of Covid despite the complete lack of income because nobody could use the centre.  While today's photos will be no great shakes artistically they are memories for me.

The celebrations began with a buffet lunch, the weather gods had been kind and it was warm and sunny so we all sat outdoors, not even using the marquee.  

There were a number of "events" during the afternoon.  Six young trees were planted, chosen to be suitable for a mountain environment, Rowan, Blackthorn, Hawthorn and Crab Apple.  There were two Crab Apples but I can't remember the other species which was duplicated.   The last tree was planted by the oldest and the youngest attendees.   Dave Dean who had the idea to form the centre and Oliver (5) the grandson of a lady from my era.

We had a demonstration by dogs from SADA (Search and Rescue Dogs Association) There was also a display of equipment and talk by Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team.

Next we had the BBQ.   After the BBQ Paul and Phil played and sang (Guitar and Tin Whistle) so you can imagine the type of singalong music.

The day was rounded off by Andy showing photos of climbs he had done in his part of the world, South America, mainly Chile, Patagonia and Argentina.  He lives and works over there and timed his annual visit to catch the celebrations.  He is a really mad hard climber soloing many mountains in the Andes by hard climbing routes.

P.S.   I don't know whether to call the last extra a still from Last of the Summer Wine, or the three stooges (assuming you are old enough to remember them.  From right to left Paul, Phil and I will leave you to work out who the third is.

The blip is cutting the cakes.   One Sponge shaped like Gelli Iago and one fruit.  I have no idea who decorated the fruit cake (the round smaller one) but the icing looks like a woven cloth badge.
