Dolly's Day

By dollydoug

The Mono Monday theme today is " Tradition".  Thanks to ApolloFly for hosting.  I purchased some pease pudding and ham today so decided to blip them for the challenge.

Pease pudding is a savoury dish made by boiling  split yellow peas with water, salt and spices. It often has pieces of ham added.  Dicksons have been making pease pudding since 1953.   It is a traditional dish served in the North East of England and is usually eaten with boiled ham and used as a filling for a  stottie cake sandwich.    Stotties are large white bread discs which are cut into triangles for sandwiches,  They are another Northern tradition.
You may know the nursery rhyme......

Pease pudding hot, pease pudding cold
Pease pudding in the pot, nine days old
Some like it hot, some like it cold
Some like it in the pot, nine days old.

I like to eat my pease pudding cold with ham and chips.  Very tasty.

Even though its a Bank Holiday I've had a normal Monday.  Pottered around at home and then walked to the village to do some food shopping in Herons and Tesco.  Only difference was that there were hardly any people around.

The weather today was traditional Bank Hol weather - cold and rainy.  Not a glimmer of sunshine.

Steps today - 6,753
