Go Japhet!

We went across to the allotment this morning, allowing ourselves enough time on this occasion to cross the road before the marathon runners came along. We stopped to watch them for half an hour or so - a very impressive sight (and sound - all those padding feet!).

This was the photo I liked best - these runners were 3rd/4th/5th at the time, with the two race leaders about 50 m ahead of them. This would have been at about 3.5 miles from the start and the clock on the car that was ahead of the front runners was reading approx 18 min. I remarked to Mr H that the runner Koech in the orange top looked as if he had another 50 miles in him - easily the most comfortable looking of the race leaders. I don't know the result yet, but there's an interesting blog about him and his journey to Edinburgh here . I hope he found it warmer than Utrecht - there were sunny intervals at least!

Edit: the final results give Koech coming in at 5th place, in a time of 2:21:51. To put this in perspective, the only chum I spotted running in the race came in 4,722nd, in a time of 4:26:43. Well done everyone!
