Buntings

The weather's due to turn wet this afternoon, and in true doom laden weather forecaster fashion the suggestion is that it will be wet for days and days to come.  The crumb of comfort here being that the forecasters find it so difficult to correctly get the weather right that they could well be completely wrong.

The reed buntings were for once playing ball.  They've been difficult to get close to for a while, so I was pleased to get these two shots , particularly the first of the two, which is of the male and the best in flight shot of one I've managed so far.  The second is I think a female and is included for those of you who see a small bird with a brownish and cream body and a dark head and instantly say "Sparrow" - this way you can get to see all the subtle details.
