a lifetime burning

When I was growing up, I don't remember ever seeing a Dunnock.  Perhaps it's because they are such anonymous looking little brown and grey birds that I always assumed they were sparrows, or something similar.  Nowadays I think they are the bird I see most often, possibly because we seem to have at least one pair resident in the garden.

As dull days go, it's been one of the duller darker days.  Certainly it has rained persistently on King Charles's parade, although he's been able to sit in the dry in the Abbey and the various state coaches.  But I imagine that there are some very damp spectators amongst the crowds in the capital today.
