Another Rainy Day

Kendal in the middle of the afternoon on a Bank Holiday Monday. Naturally, as it’s a Bank Holiday in the Lakes, the sky is grey, the place is deserted and it’s pouring with rain!
It’s been a very busy weekend, at the end of a very busy week. After two trips to Chester to clear the flat, there was barely time to draw breath before commencing a run of three gigs over Saturday and Sunday. I wasn’t overly enthused about Saturday’s - the place was hot and humid and most people there had been “celebrating” all day thanks to the coronation. Not many folk left by the end, but it was still 4am when I finally got to bed.
No peace for the wicked though and we were setting up again by 1pm. The story of that gig was yesterdays blip, and we still had the evening to do. Not unnaturally, we were all fairly knackered by this point and we did the unprecedented move of going on early and finishing early. Still a cracking night though, and many kind comments from those who were there. Slightly earlier to bed as it was “only” half two when I slid beneath the covers.
I did feel a bit better for a decent sleep this morning and went to the gym for a bit. This afternoon we wandered into town for a few bits of food and treated ourselves to a coffee and cake courtesy of the Office for National Statistics. I got a £10 voucher for completing their last survey and chose a Caffè Nero one, on the basis we spend a lot of money in there already! A lot of the shops that would usually be open on a Bank Holiday were closed, which may account for the lack of people.
Highlights of the weekend were having the foresight to cut the lawn on Saturday, between Coronation and gig, rather than leaving it until today and finally getting through a gig without having to refer to my chord charts. I definitely played all the right notes. Though I can’t necessarily confirm that I played them all in the right order every time!
