In all kinds of weather....

What a day! It was brilliant but not a good day for picinic's at Lake Coleridge.

On our arrival the sky was heavy, showers were lashing down the lake and the wind was howling - gale force nor'wester, creating waves crashing onto the shore. It was a matter of trying to get out the car with a push and a heave of the door, hold the camera tightly and not loose your glasses, hair flying in all directions, quickly get back into the car which proceeded to rock from side to side - yes it sure was windy but it was fun! I loved every bit of it and completely different to yesterday's tranquillity

As we drove away from all that wind we looked out towards the Mount Hutt Range where this side of the mountains were bare apart from a ridge of snow along the very top which gave a little hint as to what was on the other side and looking out in the distance a very fine rainbow was overhead of the Rakaia River. Once down into the valley we stopped at the exclusive Terrace Downs Resort where the wind was still howling and the snow was rising off the mountain tops.

A brilliant day of all kinds of weather, it was great to be in some magic spots - our first visit to Lake Coleridge of which there will be more. Once home we finished our weekend off with a meal out, down at our local Monteiths where I had fish crumbed with pinenuts, seasame and poppy seeds, served on cubed herbed roasted potatoes with finely sliced capsicum, courquettes and eggplant and cherry tomatoes - delicious!
