Up to the top

After a phone conversation with a friend we decided to walk up to the top of Rödklitten to look at this fine view. The walk is only 700m as the crow flies, and the top is 140m above sea level but there are some steep sections and in places we had to walk over snow. It was also Jan's first outing since she got ill and she found it hard going. However, in the end we reached the top, where we ate our crackers and enjoyed a view nearly as good as this one.
As we set off to go down again I wandered down to the next viewpoint which gave me this view and the one shown in the extra.
The actual hilltop has one side where it is relatively easy to wander up, and three sides that are really steep, vertical in places. In more troubled times this made it a good defensive position and there are the remains, a collapsed but still impressive wall, of an iron-age fortress on the top.
