Homeward Bound

Just like that, it’s time to head back home.

Checked out of the excellent Sofraga Palacio Hotel in Avila just after 8. We’ve loved our four nights here, in Avila and the hotel.

We walked a couple of streets away to Granier for the three croissants, two FARTONS (always makes me chuckle at what they are called), two coffees for the ridiculously cheap price of 6euros.

It’s a 20 minute walk to the station for our train at 9:38, a 1.5 hour journey to Principe Po station in Madrid. We walked up to the Plaza Espana again and went to a Cafe for lunch. We chose one that was 133 years old Cafe Viena. So much choice but I chose a toasted sourdough with cream cheese and salmon and S chose the same toasted bread with a hot slither of grilled turkey and a fried egg, and two coffees and water.

We decided instead of metro to Atocha and then bus to the airport we would get an Uber from Plaza Espana to the airport, sometimes all the up and down etc is just outweighed by the ease of Uber. Plus they are cheap. 35 min journey for 20 euros.

EasyJet Flight was on time, busy but quickly boarded and we landed in Edinburgh at 6:20,

it was good to see the garden has exploded into life since we have gone. My rowan tree is looking fabulous.

We talked up the stats for the two weeks we were away.

Steps : 220,211
Miles : 101.1
Weigh In: lost half a pound - 10 stone 2

Great that we counteracted all that great food with the walking to keep on track.

Was shattered and fell into bed and was asleep instantly - fell asleep with the heated eye mask on (for my dry eye problem).

Absolutely loved the holiday!
