Elephant's Ear

Aka Bergenia.

Not my work but I'm inspired to try something similar.  One of the potters has made a series of dishes using leaves.  The leaf is pressed into a flat slab which is then able to be cut into the leaf shape.  The veins leave an impression and when the piece of clay is laid over a curved form, voila, a dish!   This one was made using a leaf from Bergenia, a common garden plant which has pink flowers at this time of year.  The big leaves give it it's common name.  A nice evening at pottery applying glaze to a recent creation.

A very full day.  A long outing with C, Bella and the Megs this morning was a treat in the warm sunshine.  I dropped my keys fairly early on, only realising when I spotted them in the grass as we happened to return the same way, a very lucky chance given that other routes were available!   While we were out a load of laundry dried so another load went in and was also dry by early evening.  After lunch, some admin, chores and packing for a weekend with Ruth, I topped off the new raised bed with sharp sand ... but ran out of sand with three quarters of the job done.   It's looking good and more sand can be delivered.  I'll post a blip of it when it's done.  An hour in the greenhouse, watering and reorganising things as the bulbs die down with the approach of summer and then Jamie returned from an exciting afternoon out biking with Rachel.   Before I could get the tea on the table we were interrupted by a call from Birmingham, tangible progress on Ruth's long awaited adaptations.  Seems work will start soon but we have to ok the details of the plan and sign the paperwork.  An appointment was offered this Saturday, another lucky chance as I am there this weekend anyway.

A good news day on various fronts :-)
