Oke and the old days

A rail journey and a walk. With a group of others we travelled on the restored Dartmoor Line to Okehampton, affectionately known as Oke. The Dartmoor Line, Exeter to Okehampton, was the first line to be reinstated under the Department for Transport’s 'Restoring your Railway' initiative. The station has been beautifully restored in a green livery. There were hikers and cyclists all setting off on a days trek.
That was our aim and from there we walked to Meldon Viaduct, and up onto the moor circling back to catch one of the hourly trains. A great success story Dr Beeching.
It was also a glorious day.
