Home sweet home

We were all up bright and early today after a relatively restful night. Mystère vainly tried to don his invisibility cloak by hiding under one of the twin beds the entire time we were having breakfast and packing, but willy nilly he was grabbed and put into his carrier.

Somehow yesterday we had forgotten that he travels much better if you drape something over the carrier so he can't see out. Today we remembered and it worked like a charm. No queasiness, no yowling, and he even curled up and went to sleep. We left at 9:30 and arrived home at 4:30 after a reasonably straightforward drive apart from the dodgems on the Valencia ring road. Very pleased to find everything clean and in order after my previous rodent experience.

We were all very tired though. Mystère stalked around the house and gazed avidly out of the window while S and I spent a couple of hours unpacking. Still not done, but we got so weary that we called a halt at 7 pm. I made a clafoutis using Gracia's ultra-fresh eggs and apricots (blip) and S rustled up a salad from a large and delicious tomato I bought from the village shop, a squishy avocado we'd brought with us, and two more of Gracia's eggs (hard-boiled). It was all delicious, washed down with a 2.95 bottle of cava from Mercadona. Cabré y Sabaté -- it is much better than it has any right to be at that price. I wish I'd bought a couple more!

Home ... it feels a bit odd after four months away. Our rural lifestyle starts here!
