No Sweat

This is a Furrow bee, sometimes called a 'Sweat Bee' because of its habit of licking perspiring humans to obtain the salt its system needs. The Furrow bee is a solitary ground nester although it also will nest in rotten wood. It's not picky as to the type of pollen it collects. This one is sampling from Blue Mist Flowers. Blue Mist is a Florida native wildflower. Furrow bees are not typically aggressive, although they will sting if bothered. But their sting is not very painful because they have a very short stinger. I can't attest to that though, because I've never been stung by one.
