If you can't beat them...

Herb robert ( Geranium robertianum )

A gardening day!  After "no mow May" the grass looked about ready for second cut silage.  Thank goodness for powerful self propelled lawnmowers, I dread to think what it would have been like in the days of push mowers. After the grass much progress on a number of jobs and good planning on where and how we do things.

As you can see from the part just behind the flower, this is the seedhead and gives hardy geraniums their other common name, Cranesbill.  Herb Robert can make a good ground cover in shady areas, but not if you are worried about weeds as they selfseed readily.    Distribution is virtually worldwide with them being found in Europe,  Asia,  Parts of North America and north Africa.
