Stars in the microcosm

The hand lens foretold in yesterday's blip has arrived, and it is a beautiful thing. If you only have three minutes, have a look at the Native American woman with a PhD in Botany who wrote Gathering Moss, talking about the mosses. If you like that, maybe you'll have time for the 20-minute less-degraded talk from which that three minutes is taken. I recommend watching it before bedtime to calm your worries, to cleanse your brain from the power-grabbing and greed of our political systems, and to relax into the connection she describes, a connection with beings-other-than-human, with the land, with what endures, with what survives. I'm going to close the laptop now, leave my 10th floor apartment, and go out to find some mosses to look at with that lens.
