The works of Nature and Man

The works of Nature and Man stand side by side in proud harmony.

This is the tower of the church of St. Michael and All Angels, Beetham Parish Church.
It stands in the north east corner of the Arnside / Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The base of the tower goes back to Saxon times before the 1066 Norman Conquest.

The work of Nature is the magnificent Small Leaved Lime tree standing next to the tower. It is certainly several hundred years old and may be as old as the tower itself.

We called in at the Church on the way home from a walk in Deepdale woods. It was a walk we had not done for five years and it proved to be steep and longer than we remembered.
At one point my pulse, which is in the 50s and 60s when resting and only reaches 110 when I climb the Knott, went up to 134. Although the path was steep I think the extra arose from the feeling that we had missed the path and were lost. The workings of the human body are really very complex.
