Day 5  There is an elevated metal walkway beside the cliff with superb views at the top of the First cable car at 2000m (6500ft)  but there was no time to walk along the Cliff Walk as we had a long walk down towards Grindelwald.  Initially the track was between patches of snow  with masses of purple and white crocuses, snowbells and gentians then as it got lower and steeper we saw many more flowers before reaching the meadows below where the sounds of cowbells filled the air.
Extra The Schreckhorn peak (4078m) lies between two glaciers which reached the valley within living memory but are quickly retreating due to global warming.     The collage shows some of the alpine flowers seen near the top.  I think they are ; villous primula. yellow star of Bethlehem, alpine bird’s eye primrose, alpine snowbell, spring gentian, trumpet gentian, alpine cowslips and globe daisy.
