Caterpillars

I was walking this morning with G and suggested we see if I could remember the route of the 4.5 mile NWT walk I did a month ago from Cley to Salthouse, down to and along the shingle beach and back through the reserve. I remembered it ok, apart from taking the wrong path briefly through a barley field (for G's lovely photo of the barley in the wind see https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3113877235954614684 ).

G spotted this mass of caterpillars which were fascinating, no idea what they are though. The forecast clear blue sky was nowhere to be seen all day which was mostly cloudy, but it did reach 15C. On the route back we passed a field of cows with their calves. Part way back along the Attenborourgh Way, we came to a gate with two swans behind it. We couldn't see why, but they were refusing to move and were hissing at us, so we had no option but to retrace our steps until we could cut across to the road. When we got to the other side of where they were, we had a look from the path and suddenly realised why they were so aggressive, they had two cygnets. A lovely walk with lots of photo opportunities
